We can be your acne treatment specialists
Who gets acne?
Acne affects nearly 85% of all people at some point in their lives. Acne is the term for the blocked pores (blackheads and whiteheads), pimples, and deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) that can appear typically on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders and upper arms. In addition to these symptoms, there are often significant physical and psychological side effects associated with acne, such as permanent scarring, poor self-image, depression and anxiety. Acne is not life-threatening, but it can cause physical disfigurement (scarring) and emotional distress.
Dr. Del Campo and Dr. Danny will customize your treatment based on the severity of acne, the type of acne lesions, and your medical history. Make a consultation today for your personalized treatment.

Why does acne occur?
There is no single cause for acne - rather there are many factors to why we get these frustrating bumps. Genetics plays a role in the risk for getting acne. Also, hormones are an important cause of acne bumps - especially in teenagers and menstruating women due to the fact that their hormones are going through changes. These fluctuations often increase the oil secretion rate and encourages the abnormal growth of skin cells that can cause acne.
There are other activities that can cause acne such as friction and heavy sweating. Stress has been shown to cause outbreaks of pimples. What you consume has a major influence on whether you will have an outbreak, because high glycemic diets and skim-milk consumption are correlated with acne. Exposure to certain agents, such as greases, solvents, and vegetable oil-based cosmetics, may be the source of zits. These are the important questions that will be addressed in your consultation with our dermatologists.
