What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a mechanical exfoliation and can be used to treat scars, fine lines, reduce pore size, and reduce hyperpigmentation.

How is microneedling performed?

Your dermatologist will apply a topical serum to clean skin (such as hyaluronic acid) to glide the microneedling device across the skin’s surface while creating thousands of micro-channels every second. This helps stimulate the skin’s own natural healing process, while simultaneously delivering Hyaluronic Acid (HA) – the building blocks for healthy new skin.

Dr. Del Campo and Dr. Danny will select the appropriate needle depth and number of passes required to properly treat your concerns based upon your individual skin health and skin regimen.

How does microneedling work?

Microneedling activates cellular regeneration to help tighten and lift skin, while minimizing common skin problems such as acne scars, fine lines, photo-aging, dull skin, poor texture, stretch marks, body scars and even hair restoration.

The idea behind this treatment is to create a controlled injury on the skin to attempto to stimulate collagen and elastin production leaving skin thicker and plumper. The device creates microchannels in the skin. Topical products are then able to absorb and penetrate much more effectively in attempt to leaving you with brighter more rejuvenated skin!

How many treatments should I have?

Typically a series of 3-4  treatments is recommended, depending upon your area of correction or concern. Dr. Del Campo and Dr. Danny will ultimately determine a treatment schedule based on your individual goals and desires. Treatments are usually spaced in 4 week intervals. Patients with deep wrinkles, advanced sun damage, stretch marks, or any type of scars, usually require 3+ treatments to achieve the desired results.

Will the procedure hurt?

Most patients say they feel almost nothing - we use an effective topical anesthesia before the microneedling so that you will be comfortable throughout the procedure.

Am I a candidate?

Microneedling can be beneficial for all skin types to target fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, and pigmentation. It can be done on the face, neck and body. There is minimal downtime, and in only a few days, you’re on your way to healthy happy skin!

Microneedling + PRP

As doctors search for new ways to address skin issues, new
techniques are discovered. One such modern technique is microneedling with platelet rich plasma (PRP), or collagen induction therapy.

This new procedure is best utilized for the treatment of acne scars, surgical
scars, stretch marks, wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, sagging skin, sun damaged skin, large pores, and uneven skin texture.
This process is completely non-surgical and can be used to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. A session is broken down into two parts.

The first part is microneedling, which involves a series of small needles that are passed over the skin. This process creates micro-injuries which
trigger new collagen and elastin synthesis as the skin begins to naturally repair itself. The appearance of skin flaws will diminish as this  reconstruction and healing occur. Microneedling helps to promote the regeneration of the skin covering the marks, thus restoring the original contours of the surface.

The second part of the procedure is called PRP (platelet rich plasma). This
plasma is produced from the patient’s own blood. After a blood sample is
obtained from a patient, the blood is put into a centrifuge, which is a tool that separates the PRP from the blood. PRP contains highly concentrated elements that promote tissue regeneration. The PRP is applied directly to the micro-wounds from the microneedling process. The overall goal is to further stimulate the natural healing process and creation of collagen.

The typical patient will experience a pinkness to the skin that resembles
sunburn right after this treatment. The skin will heal and recover over the next 72 hours but will continue to show improvement for up to 8 weeks as the body’s collagen production occurs.
